Haircuts at the Mu?

A barber shop was one of the amenities in the American Hotel
A barber shop was one of the amenities in the American Hotel (which is what it was called, despite this sign in the mid-1920s referring to it as "The Hotel American"). It was located on the south side of the building (look carefully for the round sign). In the early 1950s, when Darrell Martin was opening his barbershop, "a Mr. Schmitt," who we now know was married to Elaine Canepa, cut hair in that location. Photo from the Museum collection.
